What a Moment

Hi Guys,

Wanted to share with you an unforgetable experience I had with Evelyn last night:) I was sitting on the couch, just holding her as she was sleeping and I look down at her and all of a sudden I felt this rush from my head to my toes. It was the same feeling I felt when she was born...I basically fell completely in love with her all over again. I didn't think I could love her any more than I already did but I literally experienced a deeper love for her last night. I got all teary eyed after it happened, the feeling was just overwhelming! It's true what every Mom says, that you love them more and more everyday. I feel so incredibly lucky to have her, I just love our family of three. Life couldn't be any better right now.

What do we do now?!

What a whirlwind the first week at home was. Thank goodness for Grandparents, they definitely were GRAND ( I know I'm a cheeseball!!). I really can't thank them enough for everything they did for us. I dedicate this blog post to them:)

From the AMAZING homemade meals they prepared for us every day to the continuous love and support they gave to us during that crazy week. Those are the only reasons I think that we made it through that tough time. It wasn't tough like say a busy work week, it was just emotionally and physically draining for all of us. There was the baby who was just getting adjusted to life outside of the hospital and in her new home. There was Daddy who was ancy and trying to juggle supporting me and parenting the baby. And then there was me, an emotional wreck and crazy tired!! Mom and Dad took care of us all though, they did it with a smile on their face and they are even planning on coming back for Thanksgiving!! So glad we didn't scare them off!! haha We made a lot of great new memories that we will cherish always. Below are some pictures of my fondest memories from the week:)

The first time the Grandparents(and Trapper haha) met their Granddaughter!! Just look at their faces, the best moment caught in a picture ever!!

Evelyn's first bath, Mom helped me through it all!! She looks fussy in this picture but she actually really didn't mind bath time at all and is still really liking them!

1st Halloween!! We dressed her in her orange tutu that absolutely swallowed her!! I think this picture shows that with her sitting in the boppy with Granpa:)
We had also dressed her in a ladybug costume that Trapper had bought for her. Unfortunately, she only got to wear it for about 5 mintues because she peed in it!! OOPS!!
Playtime with Granma...I love this picture, my Mom looks so happy with her:)
My FAVORITE thing Evelyn does...her fishy face!! It's the funniest thing, she usually does it right after she wakes up in the morning or from a nap. She just stares off and makes this face!! She will hold it like that for a while too, cracks us all up everytime!!

More updates to come...

Love to All!!

She's Here!!

Evelyn Marie was born on Monday October 25, 2010 at 12:43pm. She weighed 7lbs 80z and was 18.3in long! She is just amazing and we fall more in love with her as each day goes by. We are adjusting pretty well to our new life as parents, it's crazy how your life just takes a complete turn. For the better! I can't see myself doing anything else right now. Same with Matt, he was so ready to be a Daddy and he is fitting into those shoes perfectly:) Looking forward to shifting gears on our blog, going from the parents to be to finally a family of three! What a cute rhyme I just came up with! haha

Enjoy the pictures. We have been taking a lot of them which I am so glad for because like they say, the time just flies by!!

Our first family picture, Dad's eyes say it all:)

Matt lovingly holding our daughter, a moment I have dreamed of.
Car ride home from the hospital, mind you the drive was about 2 minutes long:) I was so excited to sit with her in the back seat. She looks so small now when I look back at this picture!!
So stinking cute, we love her so so much!!!

WK38

Hi everyone!

I know, it's been a while!! I am down to less than weeks now until D Day! Most of you probably know that I was scheduled to have a CSection on 10.25 because Miss Evelyn was breech but at my Dr's appt. last week we found that she had turned! My usual Dr. was out of town so we just saw a random Dr. I had mentioned something to her about the baby being breech and she just carried on checking me over and then all of a sudden she was like no way is this baby breech! I just kind of looked at her like she was crazy because Evie has been breech as far back as I can remember! But the more she moved my belly around you could totally tell that she did in fact turn! Such a surprise!! I have another appt. this Wednesday so I can't wait to see the look on my actual Dr's face when she sees that she turned:) I have to say though that since she has turned and as the Doc says "she has assumed the position" I have definitely started experiencing some of the aches and pains I have heard about from all my prego friends:( The lower right side of my back is aches all day, when I walk I feel like I'm walking on bricks, and I'm sooo TIRED, I can't seem to get enough sleep!! I'm not the only one suffering either, poor Matt...you guys know how he gets super intense about things. We'll, he's just a little anxious these days, constantly running around trying to find things to do around the house, he doesn't sit still!! I thought I was bad, he's even worse!! Needless to say we are officially ready for little miss Evelyn's arrival. If any of you guys out there are ready for her too lets all say a little prayer that she comes sooner than later!! Matt and I are so ready to meet our baby girl; the anticipation is killing us!!! Here are some recent pics!!
Took this before work this AM, sorry about the lighting, couldn't get it right! Wearing one of the two pairs of jeans I have left that fit!!

Tried again this evening but still can't get the lighting to work!!

Miss Priss sitting on my belly, her favorite these days:) She can't wait for Evie too!! It's funny becuase the baby will move around while she's sitting on me and she will look down at my belly like what on earth is going on in there! haha

My love and I out to dinner for Trapper's birthday last weekend!! So fun and delish!
The birthday boy!!

Love to all!! I promise I will TRY to keep the updates coming!!

Dallas Baby Shower!!

Here are some pictures from our couples shower we had in Dallas last weekend. It was thrown by our dear friends Shelley, Trapper and Christine. We had such a fun time; it was so great spending time with friends from near and far!!

Here's the spread, everything was DELICIOUS and it was all gone by the end of the party:)

We played a few games...guess my belly size, Trisha was WAY off...thanks a lot!!!

Guess what's in the diaper game...chocolate edition, Matt sure was comfortable sampling it, eww!

Christine made a super CUTE diaper cake!! Matt particularly enjoyed the mini liquor bottles she planted in there...they will definitely come in handy when he's pacing the hospital floor when I deliver!! hahaha

My sweet girls!! Didn't know what to do with my hands?! haha

The FABULOUS hosts, I love them:)

Thanks to everyone that shared that day with Matt, Evelyn and I! I can't wait for her to meet you all!! Only 6 more weeks to go!! Holy Cow!!

31WKS

Hi Everyone!

Thought I would share a few pictures from my baby shower in Houston last weekend. I had such a blast, it was great to see all my family and friends that I hadn't seen in a while. I just wished I had more time to visit everyone because the time just flew by!

My MIL Karen made the CUTEST coursage for me, the flowers were made out of baby socks!

Here's the table setup at the entrance; the chocolates in the basket were made by my SIL Amy and my Aunt Teresa had one of my belly pictures framed and signed by all to put up in Evelyn's room!

These were the table centerpieces that my Grandma, Aunt Teresa and Aunt Denise worked so hard on, I LOVED them!!

My Mom threw the shower at a small banquet room in Houston, it was perfect Mom!!

Our entertainment before gift time was Matt and my Dad competing to see who could get the baby dolls dressed quickest, it was hilarious!! Great game Amy!!

Thanks again to my family for throwing such an amazing shower, it was just perfect and I will never forget it:)

The Backyard!!

Here are some pictures of our backyard with new grass!!! Alex came up to help Matt put it in and the neighbors pitched in too! They got it all done in one day:) The rock you see below was already in the backyard but was setup in the middle of the yard. Matt and I wanted to have grass throughout so the dog could run around so we just decided to move it in closer to the house giving us more patio space. We are so happy with it; I'm tempted to decorate out there but I kind of already have a lot on my plate with the inside of the house now for;)

YAY for grass and no more crazy flower beds!!! Look at all the space Bub can run around now!! We left a little room in front of the shed to put a flower bed at some point. I'm thinking a few evergreens and a rose trellace:)
By the way...it was 106 degree's in Dallas today, here are the men taking one of their many water breaks. Poor guys!!

How to make your own headboard

So, I think I mentioned to you guys a while back that I wanted to get rid of our guest room furniture and start over. It was just too dark in the room with the dark flooring and dark bedroom set...wasn't very "homey" feeling and not to mention we had a platform bed that wasn't exactly comfy for my parents and inlaws to get in and out of!!

So...we sold the furniture to a family on Craigslist (scored some free sod for the backyard from them too!) and I got the idea, from one of my favorite blogs, to make my own head board! It was super easy, super CHEAP, customized to exactly what I wanted and took maybe 2 and a half hours to complete. I took some pictures throughout the whole process so that if you too want to try and make your own you can get motivation from my pics...I'm not kidding it was super easy but ladies just make sure you have a man on hand because I will say the whole last part of it was done all by Matt:)

So here's the bedroom before...cute but dark
We have a queen size bed so we bought some plywood that was about 3/8'' thick and 4' x 8'; we had it cut down at Home Depot, FOR FREE, to 4' x 6'. We used the 6ft side to go across the bed which left about 2in that went out on each side of the bed. I found some super cute fabric at Hobby Lobby that was 30% off (duh) and got 2 yards of it. For the padding you can use different materials but in reading all the blogs out there I found the egg carton padding that you would put over your mattress to be the most padded and cheapest. I bought one full sized pad at Walmart for like $15. You could choose to do a king and cut in half for additional padding but the one was just enough padding in my opinion.
So, you start out by laying out your wood and use some spray adhesive to stick your egg carton bumpy side down on. You can get the adhesive anywhere; we got ours from Home Depot for another job a while back. If you use the same dimensions I did you will have just enough leftover padding on all four sides of the board to be able to fold over for a cleaner, rounded look around the sides and edges. Once you get it laid where you want and sprayed down you then lay out your fabric basically the same way you did the egg carton. *TIP* Solid colored fabric would have been way easier than the print I bought, we really had to work to keep the pattern straight. So if you want easy then pick out something solid!
Once our fabric was in place we carefully lifted it up on one side pulled the foam and fabric over VERY TIGHTLY and prepared to staple. Oh ya and this is where Matt came in very handy, there was no way I could have stapled into this wood myself! You have to use one of those heafty duty staplers for this job and you need to make sure you staple against a wall or something that you can press hard against. If you choose to use a solid colored fabric then you could easily just staple down on the floor but because we had a pattern we had to be able to look at it while we stapled to make sure it stayed straight. Here's Matt in action...PS, there is A LOT of stapling...this part probably took the longest. Make sure when you get to the corners to really tuck in the fabric; I ended up cutting away some of the excess padding and fabric just to keep it from bulking up. Once your done stapling then....your done!! I told you it was easy:)
Here's how it turned out when it was all said and done! It only took a few hours to do the whole thing! We decided to mount it on the wall with some brackets that we got from Home Depot. It doesn't look bad though just sitting behind the bed on the floor. Depends on the look you want:) You could also get even more crafty and add some cute buttons for a tufted look or some large nailheads around the edges of the headboard. But I like to "KISS"...Keep It Simple Students....haha if Dr. White could hear me now (she was a professor of mine in college; this was her favorite motto) haha I chose not to add anything...for now;)
And here it is all set up!! It still looks a little dark in the room but I'm telling you getting rid of the other furniture and doing this really brighted up the space. It feels so much more comfortable too, like Mom and Dad's or Grandma's house. Which is important to me seeing that all my family is back in Houston:) Hopefully this was easy to understand and motivates you to try it on your own!! You never know unless you try...

Love to all, M&K

WK29

I know....I know...it's been a while since I've updated you guys!! Life has been crazy busy...not to mention how hard it's been for me to just sit still for more than 10 minutes these days!! Baby Evelyn is doing great, still very active, growing by the day and me...I'm doing well (as good as a 7 month prego gal can do in +100 degree weather!!). Really though, I can't complain, I have the best husband in the world...he helps me with anything and everything I need and other than being pretty tired lately I feel good overall.

The baby room is coming along, we have the furniture picked out, have a new fan up, have the closet organized...only things I really need to finish are picking out curtains, finding a rug and a glider. So, if any of you see any cute ones out there let me know!! Pictures will come when it's all done :) Oh and I'm doing a homemade baby mobile that is coming along as well; my friend Christine is going to help me finish it up the next time she is in town from Austin. We saw the idea when we were both shopping at Anthro...just wait, it's going to be precious!!
My Mom and Dad came in town this weekend, we had such a nice relaxing time! We took off work Friday to take the Dallas Cowboy Stadium tour which was actually a lot of fun!! We did it all, got to see Jerry's personal box with this really fast elevator thats drops him to the runway between the locker room and field...saw all the suites (swankyyy)...the FIELD...and my favorite, the player and CHEERLEADING locker rooms!!! Awesome!! Thay had a great proshop too; you will see one of the goodies I scored below;) I also took my pregnancy pictures this weekend; it was great having my Mom there to help "primp" me as I sweat bullets in the 8am heat (was in the 90's or so). She was also pretty much our photographers assistant following us around with the big reflective light piece...so funny!! Can't wait to see how they turn out:) It's also restaurant week here in Dallas which is where you can try all the best restaurants in Dallas for a fraction of the price. We tried out Chamberlain's Steak and Chop House which I'm pretty sure we would all hands down say was the best food ever!!! So for you Dallas peeps out there that haven't been there yet, it's a MUST!!! I'm salivating just thinking of it;) We'll that's all for now. I do have a few house updates that I will put up today....hopefully! Baby room updates to come in the next few weeks as well, hopefully! No promises;)

Love to all,

25 WEEKS TOMORROW!

She's getting big people and so am I!!! From head to heels she's measuring 13.5in and about a pound and a half, CRAZY! She's moving so much now too; it's so fun to watch my belly move all over the place. Matt and I just lay on the couch and watch in awe as she makes waves in my belly and punches/kicks at me:) It's always at the same time of day too, around 9pm. Thank goodness she stops when I head to bed because I have been SO tired lately. I think my energy level has gone back down some which worries me because I still have plenty of things I need to get done around the house and not to mention the baby room to finish!! I'm not too worried though, I have a wonderful Hubby that always steps in when I need him to:)

WK24.5 weeks...

Thought I'd share another little project I did last weekend. So a few weeks ago I stumbled upon a huge Goodwill store that is close to one of my favorite antique malls. To my amazement they had an incredible assortment of furniture and home goods, for practically nothing of course. So, I stumbled along this entertainment center that you see here below. Ya it looks like trash probably to most of you but I knew it was the perfect little dimond in the rough:) AND they were only asking $115 for it!!

I had the Crossfire that day so I knew there was no way I could take it home with me. I figured I'd go home and tell Matt about it and then if he was cool with it go pick it up that weekend. So he was up for it and our friends Brittany and Steve came up for the weekend from Houston. Brit and I shopped till we literally dropped that day but managed to drop in to see if this piece was still there. We walked in, found it thank goodness, it had been moved so I was sad for a few seconds thinking it was gone. Then out of no where as were oogling it, the Goodwill God came on the intercom, "attention shoppers, don't forget about our 4th of July sale we have going on this weekend...EVERYTHING in the store is HALF off " Holy cow did she just say what I think she said?! Yes....it was the perfect day to be there and buy the thing, only cost about $60!!! What a steal!! I'm still so excited about it just writing about it to you guys:) So ya, I did a little dance in the store, we bought the thing and then borrowed Trapper's truck the next day and brought that puppy home!! A week later after a lot of back and forth in regards to picking out the perfect color, here's how it turned out!!

Here's the before...

Here's the after!! Oh ya and Bub's in the picture looking quite large these days...he looks like a horse!!

A better view with the whole room...

We love how it turned out, it definitely brightens up the room (thanks Trapper for the extra push I needed to pick a brighter blue!). Only thing is now our TV feels SO small!!! Wonder if they have 50" TV's at the Goodwill too!?! hehehe JK!!! But seriously we need a bigger TV pronto...

Where did June go!?

We've had an exciting month of June visiting with LOTS of family and much needed time off from work. I'm sad to see everyone go but when I look to what is to come in the next months I realize there is plenty to look forward to!!

So first I will share my latest belly pic with you guys, I am at WK22 now!! Still feeling pretty good just SUPER tired all the time no matter how much sleep I get (which isn't much!!) I think I'm getting used to it though because I still manage to get things done and more!! I've also started to experience some pressure in my lower belly; baby Evelyn is sitting very low and I can sure feel it. It started about two weeks ago, I can feel it with every step I take. But I hear it's pretty norm and I will only feel more pressure as she grows. So I just have to deal! My yoga instructor did tell me though that there are some positions I can do to ease it and I also decided that swimming helped it after going to the pool with my Niece and Nephew last weekend. Other than those things that's about the only discomfort I have. I have a Dr. appt next Wednesday; just a check up, no sono...excited to hear her heartbeat though and see how she is growing. She has been moving around A LOT more, especially in the past few days. I find that the more I'm moving around and then decide to sit, she will then start to move around. If I'm sitting for long periods of time she doesn't really move. Matt has been able to feel her a little more so that has been fun for him and myself...I love seeing his face light up!! I haven't been sleeping well for the past few weeks so I finally went out and bought the "Snoogle" or as I like to call Bumpie, Snaggle, Swoozie...I can never remember what it's called, Matt always has to remind me haha. Anyways, I tried it out last night on the couch and in bed and really like it so far. We will see if it helps! Matt snapped a pic of me sitting with it on the couch; you can't tell but it's all twirled up behind my back...so comfy:)

That's it for now but more to come!
